Thursday, September 22, 2016, marks a special date in the history of WVMS. It was on this date in 1970 that our school came into existence at the Memorial Presbyterian Church, West North Street, Wilkes-Barre. Directress at that time was Mrs. Jackie Lekstrom overseeing the first Montessori school established in the community serving at that time three to five year old students. The school relocated on 1973 to a larger facility at the Calvary Episcopal Church, 371 North Main St., Wilkes-Barre offering both morning and afternoon classes. Kindergarten was offered for the first time in 1975. The school relocated for the last time in the summer of 1978 to our present site expanding over time to its present model covering ages 18 month toddlers to the Upper Elementary. Whatever the location for the last 46 years the school has always been constant in its dedication to the principles of Maria Montessori!
