The Upper Elementary students at Wyoming Valley Montessori School in Kingston invited the community to participate in a very special event, “WHY WE HONOR VETERANS!” Students of all ages from area schools were encouraged to submit their works: words, drawings, pictures and poetry. Adults and community residents, as well as businesses, were also invited to participate in the project.
On Thursday, November 7, 2013 various community participants and sponsors honored Veterans at the Wilkes-Barre VA Medical Center. Entries were put on display at the hospital, and students of WVMS and local community members read samples of the entries to the Veterans. All entries will be made into a book and left as a gift to the Veterans of the hospital.
The event was proudly co-sponsored and/or promoted by: WBRE, 98.5 KRZ, BAKERY DELITE, TIMES LEADER, WYOU, INDEPENDENTNEPA Magazine, INDEPENDENT GRAPHICS, CITIZENS’ VOICE, FROGGY 101, PA HOMEPAGE, and WYOMING VALLEY MONTESSORI SCHOOL
To promote the Program, two of our sixth year students appeared on PA Live with Dave Kuharchik:
